The department of English was established on 09-09-1947 and offers B.A English Honours, pass and foundation courses. Apart from studies the students of this department are involved in NSS, NCC and various cultural activities. The department has been earning name, fame in the field of education. Stalwarts like professor Ashok Hui, Dr. Bamapada Mukherjee, Shri Saroj Choudhury, Dr. Prabhash Dhar, Shri Subhash Das, Dr. Dilip Sarkar, proffessor Ashes Gupta etc. have served the department admirably. Students coming out of the department are well placed in academic, administrative, education and all other sectors.
