The Department of Sociology, Maharaja Bir Bikram College, Agartala, Tripura, organised an Invited Lecture Series on the ‘Importance of Ethnography in Social Research’ on 30th June 2025 at 12.30 PM in the Conference Hall of NSB.

The Programme commenced with a Welcome Address and Introductory Note delivered by Ms. Tracy L Darlong, Head, Department of Sociology. In her address, she emphasized and highlighted the relevance and necessity of Ethnographic methods in social research.

Following the Introduction, the session was handed over to the Resource Person, Mr. Jowel L Darlong, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Holy Cross College, Agartala, Tripura. Through a well- structured PowerPoint presentation, Mr. Jowel elaborated on the core concepts and significance of ethnography in a very lucid manner drawing interest of the students. The entire session was marked by active participation and interaction from the students.

To conclude the event, Dr. Surojit Sengupta, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology delivered the concluding remarks and extended the Vote of Thanks. The programme came to an end with a group photograph session and refreshment, marking a warm and memorable end to the event.
